Last weekend was the first race weekend of the season for me, alas as a spectator. The Sprint is in preparation, with the motor in progress and hopefully paint for the body soon. We now have a fully prepped race head nearly ready to go, and the 1300cc Giulietta motor is being assembled, yet quite a way to go until completion of the car. So, watching others race will have to suffice for the time being.
I hadn’t been to a CVAR event in a while, and the Spring event at Hallett is one not to miss. Group 2 is the largest, with lots of small bore sports cars, and quite a bit of competition not only at the front but great racing going on mid-pack as well.
In order to get at least some satisfaction out of the event I photographed most of the racing, and have added to my Gallery at Smugmug. Racing photography is quite challenging, which is why I like it. Capturing the motion of the cars is tricky, requiring relatively slow shutter speeds which make it difficult to get the exposure right and keep the subject in a relatively sharp and focused state. I think that this group of photos are my best effort yet. Hallett is a great track for photography as well as driving.
